I’m sure I’m like most of you when I say “I am looking forward to VMworld” this year! We are just days away from kicking off this annual event. Last year was my first time attending this conference and I absolutely loved it. The days leading up to VMworld 2016 I had just submitted my VCDX defense application which was very relieving. So far this years event is cooking up to be another big one. I expect a lot of great things and intend on blogging as much as possible this year. So please keep an eye out for me on social media this year both during and after the conference.
It’s been some time since my last blog article, July 6th to be exact. So what have I been up to and why haven’t I been blogging? First, my wife and I just had a baby girl back on July 12th. Secondly, my son is only 18 months….so yes, my life lately has been pretty busy both inside and especially outside of work. My wife and I officially wear the “two under two” moniker. So between juggling all of that I am also working on VCDX #2 for the Network Virtualization track. I’ve been chomping at the bit to get this in motion since the beginning of the year and have remained patient on this second journey to what is hopefully Double VCDX status.
I plan on attending more sessions this year and taking in as much information as possible. Last year I kind of “bopped around” and explored a lot of areas of the venue which lead to me attending probably half of my sessions. So much going on at once I tried to take in as much as possible. Are there some areas of interest that I want to focus on more than others this year? Yes of course. Specifically with VMware, I’m anxious to see what is going on with VMware and AWS. I have seen a lot of hype leading up to this coming week so I can’t wait to see what they have in store for everyone. I’m also very curious to see what’s new or being planned for NSX and vSAN over the next year. I truly believe both solutions have evolved beyond their infancy and have arrived.
Last year secondary storage really caught my eye. So I plan on visiting both Cohesity and Rubrik to follow up with what’s new and on the horizon with those two great companies.
Earlier this year I joined the VMUG Leadership team in Philadelphia. So I plan on hanging around with all of those great folks and networking with other VMUG leaders from other cities. So stop by and see us!
So please follow me online during this great event and bookmark my blog! I intend on being active on Twitter @vcdx245 and LinkedIn. In case you have not already noticed I have a new MENU on my blog page specifically for VMworld 2017. This will be filling up during the event.
