About the Site

I’m a new blogger and the purpose of my site is to share my experience and expertise in all areas of information technology with an enhanced focus on virtualization. I have had the pleasure of working alongside many architects and engineers over the years. They have helped me grow and develop my skill sets which has lead to a very successful career. My goal is to pay it forward by helping others learn and succeed. One of my first jobs in IT was an MCSE instructor. I really enjoyed teaching and working with my students. So a lot of my posts will probably be of the “how to…” type.

The Wifi-Cable?

I’m sure some of you are wondering where did I come up with the name for this site. It actually happened during the week of VMworld 2016 in Las Vegas. I had just submitted my VCDX documentation to VMware and received a confirmation email stating that my design was entering the technical review process.

It was also my first trip to VMworld. It was a busy and exciting week. My friend and colleague Michael Fleisher (@MichaelFleisher) and I were walking around McCarran Int’l. Airport in the morning waiting for our flight home to Philadelphia, PA. We were exhausted and looking for somewhere to sit down, connect our laptops to the Wifi and “nerd” out a bit before the flight home. This was also the last chance to charge our phones before takeoff. So the only thing on my mind at that point was getting on the public Wifi and finding a power outlet for my phone.

We walked around quite a bit and the next thing I said to Mike was “where is my Wifi cable?”

Okay let’s face it, we have all been down this sort of road and said some crazy things in our life at one point or another. Especially when you are tired and leaving after almost a week in Vegas. That city just does it to you.

Mike gave me this strange look and said “uhhhh…did you just say…” and I immediately interrupted him and acknowledged it. “Yeah. Yeah I just said that.” Pretty much laughed our asses off that morning getting on that flight.

A major thank you to VMworld 2016…The Wifi-Cable was born!
